JOIN OUR GATHERING

We would love to gather with you as you visit Tokyo! We gather every Sunday in Harajuku at 10:00, 11:30, & 13:00. If you are visiting while traveling, we ask that you consider coming to the 13:00 service or to the 11:30 service. The 13:00 service currently has the most space available and allows us to make space in our earlier services for local attendees, members, and the people that they invite to join. The 10:00 service is often near our capacity. Please go here for more information on visiting our service.

JOIN OUR MISSION
As a part of God’s global church, join us in working to see God glorified in Japan. If you are visiting us from overseas, or planning to visit us, there are many ways you can be an impactful part of how God is working in Japan from within Japan or from overseas!

See some of our resources below and consider how you can engage alongside your church, family, friends, or on your own. Expect more resources in the future on ways to pray, how to support missions in Japan from overseas, and how to engage as a foreigner living in Japan.

PrayConnectGiveVisit

Understanding the spiritual state of Japan and our Biblical commission as Christians to reach all nations can help each of us understand how to pray and play a part in the great commission. We pray that God will move in your heart and the heart of all believers to be burdened to see those who have not heard the gospel have an opportunity to hear and follow Jesus.

It is impossible to overstate the importance of prayer in seeking to see God work in people’s lives and longing to see them follow him all of their days. Every day, from anywhere in the world, you have an incredible opportunity to come alongside all believers and pray for God to be working in Japan! Pray for the 99% of Japan who does not know Jesus. Pray for the Christians and churches. Pray that God would be glorified in Japan!

From Within Japan

No matter what brings you to Japan and how long you are present here, we recommend using any or all of these 3 prayer guides to help guide you to pray for the people in Japan and help open your eyes to God’s work here. All of these can be done individually or with a group. Each takes about 1 hour to complete.

Overlooking the City - This guide is best done from a lookout where you can see all of the city. In Tokyo, there are many lookouts and rooftops that offer a great panoramic view of the city.
Overlooking the City Prayer Guide

High Population - This guide is best done from within a highly busy area during a busy time. We generally recommend a busy train station that is not primarily a tourist destination (Ikebukuro station & Tokyo Station are examples, but there are many that could work as well).
High Population Prayer Guide

Pray Yamanote - This prayer guide will take you on a loop around Tokyo while on the train. It has been created and upkept by another ministry in Tokyo. You can join them during their weekly prayer time or use the guide on your own. You can start from any station on the Yamanote train line, which is a loop around central Tokyo.

Hosting Mission Trips

Due to the nature and needs of ministry in Japan we are not able to regularly host many short term teams. Additionally, in an effort to prioritize the pastoral needs of the local congregation, a pastor or staff member may not be available to meet with you on your visit.

If you are visiting Japan on a short-term trip, we encourage you to engage with any of the resources above as well as visit us at any of our events and other churches in Japan. We especially encourage you to invite non-Christians or anyone within Japan who may be interested in engaging with our church.

If you are not currently connected with Mustard Seed long-term and are interested in exploring partnership opportunities, please fill out this form

Internships

Mustard Seed Network’s summer internship program places interns at our churches across Japan every summer.
